Boker SubCom

SUBCOM F or "SF" for short has been very well accepted within the knife community. Heck, it's even been accepted by "non-knife people" because the most common word to come out after showing it to one is, "Cute!" It has been featured in publications world wide, and was given great reviews recently in an column featured in Tactical Knives titled, "Street Smarts", written by Jerry VanCook. Kinda funny because Mr. VanCook called the SF and it's variants, "Tiny Terrors". Quite the opposite of what Dialex, famed designer of the Spyderco C102 Adventura calls it: "The Biscuit". In the closed position, this is what the SF's looked like to Dialex, and the nickname stuck. So much so, that in the Boker ads for the SF's, this model is called, "The Original Biscuit". LOL!

Biscuit, Tiny Terror, whatever, this version of the SUBCOM Folders is still the most popular to date.

SubCom Fixed

Boker's description of this product:
"On a regular basis we have the opportunity to review designs sent to us by knife enthusiasts in hope of seeing their dreams come to reality. Some of the designs are unique, some original and some are variations of product already on the market. Occasionally we will receive a design that literally "jumps off the page" and offers a totally original concept, function and look. Something fresh. That was the case with the ideas supplied to us by an upcoming designer, Chad Los Banos. Chad, a native of Hawaii, was influenced at an early age by playing with his grandfather's collection of military bayonets. His inquisitive nature would lead him into sketching and drawing variations of the presentation pieces.

This, in turn, led to more original designs and concepts. The design that had an immediate reaction from the Boker staff was his Subcom. In Chad's words, he had a number of fixed blade knives, folders and neck knives that were "either too small or too big, too skinny a blade, and not enough handle to fill the hand." The Subcom series of folders and fixed blades were designed to fill the hand, while remaining small enough to "stay out of your way," yet offering enough blade to get the job done. Blade length is short enough for most municipalities and very people-friendly. The Subcom folder has gone through extensive evaluation and field testing, and has received an outstanding appraisal from experts in all fields to include military, self defense, outdoor and general use. Use it as a money clip and formidable backup weapon. The uniqueness of the Subcom is that, as small as it is, it fits comfortably into even the largest hands.
